Job Description

Omnimatics is looking for a talented Hardware Systems Engineer to join our team! You’ll be working alongside other engineers, developers, and designers - collaborating on various layers of infrastructure for our product platform, CARdio®. If you're experienced with various technologies in hardware systems and integration, and you’re a fast learner and have a “get things done” mentality, we'd love to hear from you!


  • Work with cross-functional engineering team to define system features and performance requirements.
  • Work with firmware engineers and other system engineers to design hardware that appropriately interfaces with other components of the system.
  • Design embedded system hardware accordingly to system features requirement and regulation.
  • Design appropriate circuitry as solution to current problem in automotive telemetry system.
  • Draw schematic, generate PCB layout and BOM list and liaise with manufacturer for product fabrication.
  • Work closely with firmware engineers to debug issues and solve design-related challenges
  • Communicate with other engineers and project manager for product design related activities
  • Provide accurate estimates and timeline for testing related activities
  • Ensure that quality standards are met for any development related activities
  • Be accountable for tasks that are assigned and adhere to timelines

Job Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience doing circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and system integration.
  • Strong analogue and digital circuit design skills, power electronic circuit design, including simulation and analysis.
  • Experience with various schematic capture tools, such as Eagle and Altium.
  • Experience with PCB layout on multi-layer boards (4+ layers), paying careful attention to timing analysis and signal integrity.
  • Experience with automotive communication protocols specifically with OBDII.
  • Has knowledge on automotive standard regulation.
  • Experience designing logic with FPGAs.
  • Experience integrating hardware designs into a larger system, including interfacing with embedded microcontrollers and analogue sensors.
  • Experience using standard lab equipment for system testing, characterization, and debug (e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyser, etc.).
  • Skill writing test or automation software in high level languages is a plus (e.g. C,C++, python, matlab, labview).
  • Applicant is expected to be able to work with other engineering disciplines (e.g. Mechanical Engineering) to develop and innovate on design integration.
  • Applicant should be able to enumerate the pros, cons, and trade-offs of different solutions.
  • Applicant must work well in a team environment.
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering (applicants from other fields of studies will be considered if they are able to show that they have relevant work experience and/or ability).
