Job Description

Our client is an international engineering group, producing a wide range of precision engineering products such as industrial chains and related power transmission products used in conveyor, material handling and factory automation systems. They are currently looking for the right candidate to fill the following position.


SALES ENGINEER  (Based in Johor Bahru, Johor)

Job Summary

Responsible to increase profit and sales of traded products to customers in the designated regions and allocated sectors.  Work with a team of sales engineers and internal sales officer and develop and implement sales and distribution plans


  • Review and report on market prospects and opportunities, competitors’ activities and threats and sales performance
  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers and conduct sales presentations to customers
  • Provide technical and service support
  • Plan and maximise sales visits to customers in the branch
  • Personally develop relationships with key customers and assist in closing large orders
  • Promote Company brands in accordance with the Company’s sales and marketing strategy which may be revised from time to time
  • Ensure all quotations are entered into the CRM databases and that they are professionally and aggressively followed up and all branch management reports, monthly, weekly or ad hoc, shall be submitted as required
  • Cross-sell the Company’s other products to customers
  • Manage pricing under the direction of Company management in accordance with the Company’s strategy to maximise market share and profitability of the Company brands and to obtain maximum possible prices with particular emphasis on large special projects
  • Contribute to price list maintenance
  • Resolve issues between Sales and Supply Chain/Factory staff including technical requirements, pricing and lead time
  • Resolve customer complaints in a timely manner to maintain good customer relationships
  • Maintain good relationships between Sales and Supply Chain/Factory staff and recommend stock levels
  • Provide input to the Branch Units’ Annual Sales Financial and Action Plan
  • Develop personal, technical and commercial skills and knowledge including the prudent control of commercial and technical risks

Job Requirements


  • A graduate with a degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering
  • Sales experience in industrial products with at least 5 years involvement in sales to the palm oil sector & in dealers sales management/hand-on application support
  • Proven sales track record in sales territory management with a sound knowledge of selling benefits of high quality industrial products
  • Have confidence, professional presentation, enthusiasm and ability to gain respect from and inspire confidence in customers and distributors
  • Willingness to travel frequently to palm oil mills and other parts of Malaysia is required.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English


Additional Information

Salary RM7,000 – RM10,000 to commensurate with experience. This position reports to the Director of Sales, Malaysia and Thailand.
