Lecturer (Interactive and Digital Media / Interactive Media)

Job Description

Position Summary

Lecturers in Interactive and Digital Media will be responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and research in creative multimedia and digital design. The role covers both diploma and bachelor programmes, focusing on digital creativity, interactive systems, media production, and user experience design.

The lecturer will nurture students’ technical and creative abilities, preparing them for dynamic careers in the creative and digital industries through practical, project-based learning and exposure to emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver lectures, tutorials, and studio-based sessions across both diploma and bachelor levels.
  • Teach and assess subjects such as visual communication, design fundamentals, digital imaging,
  • 2D/3D animation, UX/UI design, creative coding, and interactive media.
  • Prepare lesson plans, assessments, and learning materials aligned with MQA standards and programme learning outcomes.
  • Supervise student projects, final-year projects, and industrial training.
  • Apply creative and technology-driven teaching methods to enhance student engagement.

Curriculum & Academic Development

  • Contribute to the design, review, and enhancement of courses to ensure relevance to industry needs.
  • Integrate emerging tools, technologies, and creative methodologies into teaching delivery.
  • Participate in academic quality assurance, assessment moderation, and programme accreditation activities.

Research & Creative Practice

  • Undertake research or creative projects in areas such as interactive design, animation, UX/UI, creative technology, or digital storytelling.
  • Collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, or research groups on creative innovation initiatives.

Student Mentorship & Engagement

  • Guide students in developing creative portfolios and professional projects.
  • Encourage participation in competitions, exhibitions, and community engagement related to digital media and design.

Administration & Service

  • Participate in school and university committees, events, and meetings.
  • Support outreach and promotional activities to strengthen the School of Creative Multimedia’s visibility and industry collaboration.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

  • Master’s Degree in Interactive Media, Digital Media, Multimedia Design, Game Design, or related field or PhD in related field.
  • Demonstrated teaching or industry experience in multimedia production, digital design, or interactive systems.
  • Proficiency in relevant creative and technical software (Adobe Creative Suite, Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, Figma, etc.).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with creative or applied research, exhibitions, or industry collaborations.
  • Familiarity with creative coding, AR/VR/MR, and other emerging media technologies.
  • Knowledge of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and MQA academic frameworks.
