Job Purpose

To deliver quality teaching in cybersecurity related subjects, contribute to research and scholarly activities, supervise students, and support the academic

development of cybersecurity programmes within the faculty.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions in cybersecurity-related

subjects such as Network Security, Ethical Hacking, Digital Forensics,

Cryptography, and Information Security Management.

  • Develop and update course materials, assessments, and learning resources in

line with curriculum requirements.

  • Use appropriate teaching methods, including practical and laboratory-based

learning.

  • Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) for teaching, assessment, and student engagement.

2. Student Supervision and Academic Support

  • Supervise undergraduate student projects related to cybersecurity.
  • Provide academic advising and mentoring to students.
  • Support student learning through consultation sessions and academic guidance.

3. Research and Scholarly Activities

  • Conduct research in cybersecurity-related areas such as network security, digital forensics, cyber threat intelligence, or information security.
  • Publish research findings in reputable journals and conferences.
  • Apply for research grants and participate in collaborative research projects.

4. Programme and Curriculum Development

  • Contribute to the development and review of cybersecurity curriculum.
  • Ensure course content aligns with current industry standards and emerging

cybersecurity trends.

  • Participate in programme accreditation and quality assurance processes.

5. Administrative and Academic Service

  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and academic activities.
  • Support faculty initiatives such as seminars, workshops, and student competitions.
  • Contribute to outreach activities, industry collaboration, and academic events.

 

Job Requirements

Job Competencies

  • PhD in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, network security, ethical hacking, and digital forensics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and platforms (e.g., Kali Linux tools, penetration testing tools, security monitoring systems).
  • Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to use Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital teaching technologies.
  • Strong communication, teaching, and research skills.
