Senior Lecturer/Lecture ( Engineering and Frontier Technology)

Job Description

Job Purpose

To deliver quality teaching and practical laboratory instruction in Robotics and 
Automation, contribute to curriculum development, supervise student 
projects, and support academic quality assurance in accordance with the 
Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF) and relevant accreditation 
requirements. The lecturer is expected to prepare graduates with strong 
practical skills and industry-relevant knowledge.


Key Responsibilities & accountabilities
1. Teaching and Learning
a. Deliver lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and practical classes for 
Diploma in Robotics and Automation courses.
b. Teach courses related to, but not limited to:
• Sensors & Actuators 
• Robotics Systems Peripherals 
• Embedded Systems 
• Robotics & Autonomous Control 
c. Develop and update teaching materials, laboratory manuals, practical 
exercises, assessments, and course files.
d. Conduct practical laboratory sessions involving microcontrollers, 
sensors, actuators, robotics kits, and embedded systems.
e. Guide students in developing mini projects, diploma capstone projects, 
and practical applications related to robotics and automation.

f. Prepare examination papers, quizzes, laboratory assessments, and 
marking schemes in a timely manner.
g. Provide academic advising and consultation to students.
h. Utilize the University's Learning Management System (LMS) to support 
teaching and learning.


2. Curriculum and Quality Assurance
a. Review and improve course and learning materials to ensure alignment 
with Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs), Course Learning Outcomes 
(CLOs), MQF, and relevant accreditation requirements.
b. Participate in curriculum review and Continuous Quality Improvement 
(CQI) activities.
c. Prepare and maintain course files portfolios and academic 
documentation.


3. Laboratory & Student Development
a. Assist in managing robotics laboratories and ensure laboratory 
equipment is properly maintained and safely operated.
b. Guide students in the use of robotics platforms, embedded systems, 
sensors, actuators, and microcontroller-based applications.
c. Support students' participation in robotics competitions, innovation 
projects, exhibitions, and community engagement activities.


4. Research & Professional Development
a. Participate in research, innovation, consultancy, or industry 
collaboration relevant to robotics and automation.
b. Continuously update knowledge and skills in robotics, automation, 
embedded systems, and related technologies to ensure teaching remains 
current and industry relevant.

5. Administration
a. Participate in programme accreditation, academic audits, and quality 
assurance activities.
b. Assist in timetabling, examinations, moderation, and other academic 
administrative duties.
c. Perform other duties assigned by the Dean or Head of Programme.

Job Requirements

Job Competencies

Qualifications Essential

• Master's degree (or PhD) in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer 
Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or a related engineering 
discipline. 
• Good knowledge of robotics, embedded systems, sensors, actuators, and 
automation. 
• Experience in programming using C/C++ and/or Python. 
• Ability to conduct practical laboratory sessions and supervise student 
projects. 
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

• Experience using Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or similar embedded 
platforms. 
• Familiarity with industrial automation, PLC, robotics systems, or IoT 
applications. 
• Teaching or industrial experience in robotics, automation, or embedded 
systems. 
• Knowledge of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Continuous Quality 
Improvement (CQI), and programme accreditation processes.
