Job Description

You just finished your Law Degree. You studied contract law, read cases until midnight and wondered whether there is more to law than courtrooms. There is and we are building it right here at Kollect Systems.

Kollect Systems is a Malaysian fintech company specializing in revenue collections and debt recovery software - used by banks and financial institutions across Malaysia, Indonesia, India and the UAE. We are looking for a Legal Tech & AI Associate - a fresh law graduate who is genuinely curious about technology, comfortable with AI tools and ready to contribute real work from Day 1.

No prior banking experience required. No technical background required. If you can think logically, write clearly and are excited about where AI is taking the legal profession - we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Reading & Plain-Language Translation: Read Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) policy documents and compliance guidelines, then break them down into clear bullet points, checklists and structured summaries that our product team can act on. Your law degree gives you the reading and reasoning skills - we will train you on the specific frameworks.
  • AI-Assisted Workflow & Process Mapping: Using AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT, translate compliance rules and legal requirements into visual workflows, decision trees and screen-level process maps for our software. You do not need to code. You need to think clearly, prompt AI effectively and document outputs in a structured, usable format. We will show you how.
  • Contract & Document Review Support: Apply what you learned in your law Degre. Malaysian contract law principles under the Contracts Act 1950 - to conduct first-line review of software licensing agreements, vendor contracts and data privacy terms. You are not replacing a lawyer; you are the first filter before issues reach senior review. Your legal knowledge is used from Day 1.
  • Regulatory Research & Monitoring: Track updates to relevant BNM guidelines, particularly Risk Management in Technology (RMiT) and PDPA-related frameworks and produce concise internal summaries that keep the product and compliance teams informed. No prior knowledge of these documents is required - comfort with structured reading and legal analysis is what matters.
  • Independent Execution: Once briefed, take ownership of your tasks. We expect you to organize your work, ask the right questions and deliver structured outputs without needing constant supervision. This is a role where initiative is noticed and rewarded.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). Recent graduates awaiting results, current CLP candidates and motivated final-year students are strongly encouraged to apply. Your academic knowledge of Malaysian law is directly relevant - use it.
  • Curiosity About AI: You have used ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI tool for more than basic chat - for studying, drafting, summarizing, or researching. You do not need to be an expert. We need someone who is genuinely interested in learning how to use these tools effectively in a legal and compliance context.
  • Strong Written English: You can explain a complex legal clause in plain language without losing its meaning. Your writing is clear, professional and structured. Full professional fluency in English is required.
  • Legal Foundational Knowledge: A solid academic understanding of the Contracts Act 1950, Malaysian legal principles and the basics of corporate statutory compliance. You do not need to be a practicing lawyer - you need to know how to read and apply the law.
  • Self-Starter Mindset: You are organized, take initiative and follow through on tasks. Once you understand what needs to be done, you do not need someone standing over your shoulder to complete it.
  • Bonus -Great to Have: Exposure to BNM policy documents (RMiT or PDPA) from electives or internship; any experience building a prompt, workflow, or structured template using AI; prior internship in a corporate, banking, or tech legal environment; familiarity with structured markdown outputs, mockups, or process-mapping tools.
